Safeguarding and Quality

Child protection, safety, and quality are central to Bellsway Children's Home. Our policies meet statutory guidance and are regularly reviewed.

Safeguarding children

We:

Complete enhanced checks and robust recruitment for all staff

Provide regular safeguarding training, including child sexual exploitation, missing from care, e-safety, and radicalisation

Act promptly on any concerns and follow local safeguarding procedures

Work closely with social workers, LADO, police, health services, and safeguarding partnerships

Missing from care

We focus on prevention through relationships, routines, and risk assessments. If a child goes missing:
  • Staff follow the missing from care protocol
  • Police, local authority, and relevant contacts are notified
  • Return home interviews and debriefs explore reasons and support future safety
  • Complaints and whistleblowing

    Complaints

  • We welcome feedback and complaints as opportunities to improve
  • Complaints are acknowledged, investigated, and responded to within clear timescales
  • Children, families, and professionals receive information on how to escalate concerns to the placing authority, Ofsted, or the Local Government Ombudsman
  • Whistleblowing

  • Staff have clear, confidential routes to raise concerns about practice or safety
  • Concerns are investigated and addressed without victimisation
  • Quality assurance

    Quality is monitored through:
  • Regular internal audits
  • Staff supervision and appraisal
  • Regulation 44 independent visits
  • Regulation 45 management monitoring and reporting
  • Feedback from children, families, and professionals
